In January 2016, the Chair in Maritime Business and Logistics of the University of Bremen in partnership with the Ukrainian Universities Uman National University of Horticulture, Kiev National Economic University Named after Vadym Hetman and Odessa National Maritime University started the joint “German-Ukrainian Master Program in Logistics” (GUMLog). The project is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It is devoted to the collaboration in the field of education, namely the elaboration of a joint master degree in logistics. And it has to be fulfilled within next 4 years.
It is worth mentioning that the project participants have a long history of cooperation. Over the last 10 years a number of cooperation measures were realized like workshops, student’s exchange, or reciprocal lectures of guest professors.
The main goal of GUMLog is a reciprocal development of curricula and establishment of master program in logistics in accordance with local context in Ukraine and in correspondence to the state-of-the-art in transport and logistics.
The kick-off meeting is scheduled to 11th of April. Afterwards a set of knowledge transfer activities is on the schedule. Within the week in April 10-18 April a range of meetings with Bremen university representatives is planned. Additionally, an open workshop with invited external experts is to be
It is worth mentioning that logistics has strong perspectives for development in Ukraine in course of development of economic tights with European and Asian countries in correspondence with Horizon 2020 and the New Silk Road Strategies. Under consideration of these future challenges, the joint “German-Ukrainian Master Program in Logistics” will contribute to the preparation of future specialists in the field of logistics.
